Online Therapy Sessions

  • Getting started with therapy is easy. First, book a free 15-minute consultation through our website. This is a quick, no-pressure chat to discuss your needs, answer your questions, and ensure we are the right fit for your journey. Once matched, we will send you a secure link to begin your sessions from the comfort of your home. You can meet with a therapist virtually whether you are in Vancouver, Victoria, Chilliwack, or anywhere across British Columbia and Ontario. Reach out to begin your healing journey today!

  • To prepare, find a quiet, cozy, and private space where you won't be overheard. We recommend wearing comfortable clothes and bringing a warm drink or a blanket to help you feel relaxed. Technically, just ensure your device is charged and your internet connection is strong and stable. We will send you a link before your session, just click the link to join the session.   • We currently have immediate availability for new clients with no waitlist. We offer same-week appointments for both online and in-person sessions. Spaces fill up quickly, so we recommend booking your free consultation today to secure your spot here.

  • We adhere to British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the Health Professions Act, ensuring that all client information is encrypted, password‑protected, and never stored or recorded. Your privacy is our top priority, and we take every measure to ensure your sessions remain completely confidential.

  • No. We do not record sessions. Your therapy is a live, private interaction between you and your therapist. We would never record a session without your explicit written consent and a clear clinical reason for doing so such as for Supervision purposes.

  • Yes. Our team is licensed to provide virtual therapy to clients physically located in British Columbia and Ontario. If you reside in these provinces and are traveling temporarily, you are welcome to work with us. Please note that we cannot provide therapy to clients physically located outside of these two provinces due to licensing regulations.

Fees, Payments & Policies

  • Individual therapy sessions are $140 - $160 for a 50-60 minute session. We believe in transparent pricing, so you will always know the cost upfront. We provide detailed receipts that can be submitted to your extended health benefits for reimbursement.

  • Couples counselling sessions are $175 for a 50-minute session. Longer sessions (e.g., 75 or 90 minutes) are available upon request, and the fee is adjusted proportionally to the time. This rate reflects the specialized nature of relationship work. We provide detailed receipts for submission to your insurance provider for couples therapy.

  • Clinical supervision for RCC’s and interns is $155 for a 60-minute individual session. Group supervision rates vary; please contact Julie for current pricing and availability.

  • Our standard fees are set to reflect the specialized training and experience of our therapists. While we do not currently offer a sliding scale, we are committed to accessibility. We can provide a list of low-cost community agencies, training clinics, and other resources in British Columbia that may offer reduced rates.

  • We require 24 hours' notice for any cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments will be charged the full session fee. We understand that emergencies happen, so please contact us as soon as possible if you need to adjust your appointment.

  • We accept e-transfers, credit cards, and cash. Payment is processed securely before, during, or after your session. We provide receipts for insurance reimbursement.

  • Yes. While standard individual sessions are 50 minutes, we offer extended sessions of 60, 75, 90, and 120 minutes for specific services like couples therapy, trauma processing, therapy intensives, or supervision. Let us know how we can support you best!

  • We kindly request payment before or at the start of your session to keep our administration smooth. We appreciate prompt payment if processed afterward. Receipts are issued within 14 days. Thank you for supporting our practice!

Getting Starting with Therapy

  • This is your time to interview us! You might ask about our experience with your specific issue, our therapeutic approach (e.g., trauma-informed, narrative), or what a typical session looks like. We encourage you to ask anything that helps you feel safe and confident in your choice.

  • The first session is about building connection and safety. We will review your history, discuss what brings you to therapy, and outline your goals. It is also a time for you to ask questions and see if the fit feels right. You are in the driver's seat and we are just here to support you!

  • Informed consent is the process of ensuring you fully understand the risks, benefits, and limits of therapy before we begin. We will review our policies on confidentiality, fees, and your rights as a client. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and sign an consent form, ensuring you feel fully informed and empowered.

  • Confidentiality means that everything you share in therapy stays between you and your therapist. We are legally and ethically bound to protect your privacy. We will not share your information with anyone, including family members or doctors, without your written permission.

  • There are specific legal limits to confidentiality. We are required by law to break confidentiality if there is a risk of serious fatal harm to yourself or others, or if we suspect child abuse or neglect. We will always discuss these limits with you in the first session so there are no surprises.

  • We encourage open communication. You can simply say, I think I need a break for a while, or I feel like I have reached my goals for now. We will never take it personally. Taking a break is a normal part of the process. And we are here for you when you want to return.

  • Yes, absolutely. The therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in your success. If you feel your current therapist isn't the right fit, we will support you in finding a better match within our team. We never take it personally, our goal is to ensure you have the support you need.

Insurance Coverage & Billing

  • Yes. Our therapists are Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCCs), which is a designation recognized by most extended health benefit plans in Canada. We provide detailed receipts with all necessary license numbers for you to submit your claim.

  • After each session, you will receive an email receipt. You can upload this receipt directly to your insurance provider's online portal or mobile app. If you have questions about the process, we are here to help.

  • Yes. We are registered providers for the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP) and sometimes require a small top up fee of approximately $25 per session.  

  • Yes. We have limited spaces for First Nations people through First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). We provide direct billing for this process so you can focus on your healing journey.

  • We can direct bill certain providers, such as the FNHA. For other plans, we provide detailed receipts for you to submit your claim directly to your insurer.

About Our Credentials (RCC)

  • A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a mental health professional who has met the rigorous educational, clinical, and ethical standards set by the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). This designation ensures your therapist has a Master's degree and extensive supervised experience.

  • RCCs hold a Master's degree in a Counselling Psychology. This includes approximately three years of academic study, followed by hundreds of hours of supervised clinical practice before they can register with BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

  • “Counsellor" and "Therapist" are often used interchangeably to describe anyone who provides mental health support. A Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) is a specific, protected title in BC that guarantees the therapist has met strict regulatory standards for education and ethics.

  • RCCs can support and treat mental health conditions, but in BC, the authority to formally diagnose medical or psychiatric conditions typically rests with physicians and psychologists. However, we can provide screening assessments, treatment plans, and letters of support for your care to other health care providers..

  • No. RCCs are not medical doctors and cannot prescribe medication. If medication or supplementation is needed, we can work collaboratively with your family doctor, psychiatrist, naturopathic doctor, or nurse practitioner to support a holistic treatment plan.

  • Sex therapy is a specialized form of talk therapy that addresses concerns related to sexuality, intimacy, and relationships. It is a safe, non-judgmental space to explore issues like desire discrepancies, sexual trauma, gender identity, or sexual dysfunction.

  • Sex therapy is for anyone, individuals or couples who wants to improve their sexual health or relationship dynamics. We work with people of all genders, orientations, and relationship structures, including ENM, LGBTQIA2S+, kink-identified individuals.

  • Sex therapy is just talk therapy that takes place in a safe, non-judgmental space with a sex-positive and trauma-informed therapist. Together, we’ll collaboratively explore your relationships and history and work towards your goals.

  • No. Sex therapy is strictly hands-off. We are mental health professionals who provide talk therapy in a safe, supportive space for you to explore your relationships and sexuality. We never engage in any sexual contact, touch, or sexualized services with clients, now or in the future. Our work is confined to conversation, education, and emotional healing.

  • Absolutely. Sexual health is deeply interconnected with your overall well-being. In sex therapy, we can discuss your history and experiences, your relationships and challenges, as well as topics like religious trauma, shame, or a sex-negative upbringing. We are here to support you with whatever your needs are, helping you heal and thrive in all areas of your life.

  • Yes, absolutely. Many individuals attend sex therapy to explore their own identity, heal from past experiences, or better understand their desires before entering a relationship. It is a safe, sex-positive, and trauma-informed space dedicated to processing your unique history and working towards your personal goals.

  • Absolutely. Many of our therapists, including myself, specialize in supporting women, gender-diverse, non-binary, or individuals who are transitioning. We offer a safe, affirming space to explore and process whatever is on your mind so you can feel grounded, supported and connected.

  • Yes. We specialize in women's health using a trauma-informed, feminist lens. We can help you learn how to track your monthly cycle. We can support you as you go through perimenopause and menopause. Our goal is to help you feel empowered as you navigate these profound transitions.

  • Yes. We have a specialist, Danielle, who supports new mothers, mothers-to-be, caregivers, and parents. She provides a safe, affirming space to navigate the profound transition of matrescence, pregnancy, and the postpartum period, helping you find balance and connection during this important time.

  • Yes. While I do not offer couples therapy, I specialize in supporting individuals with dating, relationship challenges, breakups, and divorce. I help you to explore your patterns and boundaries to build healthier connections. For couples therapy, please inquire about our specialist, Danielle, who works with partners together.

Social Media & Your Privacy

  • To protect your confidentiality and maintain professional boundaries, we do not accept friend requests from current or former clients on personal social media. This policy safeguards the privacy of both you and your therapist, ensuring your personal life remains separate from our therapeutic work.

  • Yes. Absolutely! You are welcome to follow our professional page @bctherapyco on Instagram for tips, resources, updates, and inspiration.

  • No. We do not use social media DMs for clinical or scheduling conversations as these will likely be missed and these platforms are not secure for sharing personal health information. Please use our website, email or phone number to connect with us directly.

  • To book your free consultation please connect with us through our website. For current clients please text or email your therapist directly.

  • We appreciate your feedback! To protect your confidentiality, we do not ask for public reviews. If you are having a challenge, please connect with us directly so we can resolve it. If you are happy with your therapy experience, feel free to share it with friends, family, or on social media, just know that, posting publicly will connect your name with our practice.

  • If you are concerned about privacy, you can clear your browser history after visiting our site. If you receive emails from us, you can set up a private folder or use a secure email address and password that only you can access. You can also turn off location tracking on your phone and limit engagement with us on social media.

Crisis Support & Emergencies

  • No. We are not a crisis service and cannot respond to emergencies outside of scheduled sessions. If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • If you are feeling actively suicidal, please reach out for support. You can call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988). You can also go to the nearest hospital emergency department. You do not have to face this alone.

  • If a child or youth is in crisis, please call 911 or the Kids Help Phone at 1-800-668-6868. They can also text CONNECT to 686868 available 24/7. There is always someone ready to listen and help.

  • We understand that making a call can feel overwhelming. You can text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. You can make yourself safe, have a meal, take a nap and when you can, reach out to your therapist to schedule a session. If you are concerned for your safety, reach out to 911 to go to your nearest hospital emergency department

Supervision is a vital part of your professional journey, offering a space for growth, reflection, and support. As an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the BCACC and an Approved Supervisor for Yorkville University students, I provide a collaborative, trauma-informed, and respectful environment. Whether you are an intern building your hours or an experienced clinician refining your skills, we will work together to deepen your clinical insight and strengthen your professional identity. Below, you'll find answers to common questions about my supervision approach, credentials, and logistics.

  • Yes. I hold the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) designation from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). This ensures that my supervision meets the highest ethical and professional standards for clinical training in British Columbia. I am an approved supervisor for Yorkville University. I can provide weekly individual supervision for students during their practicum and after they complete school.

  • Yes. I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the BCACC and an Approved Practicum Supervisor for students at Yorkville University. I offer individual and group supervision for interns, practicum students and Registered Clinical Counsellors. My supervision meets all rigorous standards required for RCC registration, continuing education, and practicum hours.

  • My approach is collaborative, respectful, and trauma-informed. I create a safe, non-judgmental space for you to reflect on your practice and develop your professional identity. Together, we work on clinical case conceptualization, treatment planning, and your unique strengths. We also explore self-of-the-therapist issues, such as your attachment style, mental health, trauma history, and relationship dynamics, to understand how they impact your work and identify areas for growth.

  • Individual supervision is $155 CAD for a 60-minute session. I also offer group supervision at a reduced rate; please contact us for current group sizes and pricing. Supervision is available online across British Columbia.
