Therapy Services for Women
Trauma, ADHD, Perimenopause, Sexuality, and Relationships — Online across British Columbia, Canada
Julie Thomason, RCC-ACS
PhD Candidate in Clinical Sexology
Hi, I'm Julie. I've spent nearly a decade supporting women through trauma, ADHD, perimenopause, and the parts of life that are hard to talk about. I'm also one of the only PhD Candidates in Clinical Sexology in British Columbia's Fraser Valley, training that shapes how I approach this work. Whatever brought you here, I'm glad you found your way to this page.

-
My focus areas are trauma, ADHD, perimenopause, and sexuality, informed by advanced training including a PhD candidacy in Clinical Sexology and my work as an Approved Clinical Supervisor.
-
Yes, all sessions are either online or by phone so you can access support from anywhere in British Columbia.
-
You'll get a private video link before your appointment, or if we've scheduled a phone session, I'll call you directly at your appointment time. Either way, just be ready in a comfortable, private space at your session time.
-
I work with adult women, most often in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, though I'm happy to work with clients outside that range too.
-
Look for the Book a Consultation link or button anywhere on this site. It'll take you to my online booking page to pick a time that works for you, and I'll call you at your scheduled time.

In most cases, I'm able to book new clients within a few days. Occasionally wait times run a bit longer, but I always do my best to get you in as soon as possible.
FAQ: Cost, Insurance, & Policies
-
Individual sessions range from $140 to $175 per hour, depending on which practitioner you see.
-
Many extended health plans and Health Spending Accounts cover registered clinical counselling. I recommend checking with your provider to confirm your specific coverage before booking.
-
No, BC's Medical Services Plan does not cover registered clinical counselling. Most people use extended health insurance, community agencies or community services, or pay out-of-pocket.
-
All regulated professionals bring valuable training to their work. RCCs (Registered Clinical Counsellors) complete a master's degree in counselling, along with clinical practicum hours, and are required to pursue ongoing continuing education and supervision throughout their career to maintain registration. RCCs are registered in BC and accountable to a professional college. Not all counselling-related titles carry this kind of regulatory accountability. If you're looking for talk therapy with a clinician who invests in specialized, continuing education, an RCC is a trusted and highly qualified choice.
-
I require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed sessions or late cancellations are charged the full session fee, with exceptions made for genuine emergencies.
-
Sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes, though longer sessions can be scheduled in advance. Most clients start with weekly sessions, then space them out as things start to feel more manageable.
-
Yes, everything you share stays private and secure. Sessions are held on encrypted video, and I'm bound by professional ethics never to discuss my clients with anyone. The only exception is clinical supervision, where cases are discussed anonymously to support the quality of care I provide.
-
If you're in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, please reach out to a crisis line or go to your nearest emergency room right away. In BC, you can call the 310-6789 crisis line (no area code needed) or dial 988 for the Canada Suicide Crisis Helpline. Therapy is a valuable ongoing support, but it isn't equipped to respond to immediate emergencies.
